24 August 2018 AUSTRALIA: Pentecostal Prime Minister “Meet PM Scott Morrison”

Prime Minister Scott Morrison with his wife Jenny and daughters Abigail and Lily pose for photos after being sworn-in at Government House in Canberra on Friday.

vs.1 We may make our plans, but God has the last word. !

PROVERBS 16:1-3

Scott Morrison is Australia’s first Pentecostal prime minister, a branch of Christianity famous for stadium-sized gatherings and energetic sermons.

For more than a decade he and his family have been members of the Sutherland Shire’s Horizon Church in Sydney’s south, housed in a 1200-seat auditorium.

Horizon is a Pentecostal Christian church where pastors give rousing sermons, and followers can sometimes speak in tongues and engage in “divine healing”.

Horizon Church senior pastor Brad Bonhomme says Mr Morrison and his wife Jenny and daughters Lily and Abigail are regulars at the church on a Sunday, when more than 2000 people attend services.

More recently work has thwarted Mr Morrison’s regular attendance, however, his wife and daughters are heavily involved in the church’s children’s program.

The Morrisons met through church as teenagers and married at the age of 21.

Mr Bonhomme said the church would play no part in the running of the country or Liberal Party policy.

“Unfortunately there will be some that assume whatever policy direction the Liberal Party might choose to take, some would assume I or our church will be involved in that,” he said. “Nothing could be further from the truth.

“As far as growth of the church is concerned there may be some people who may like what they see and what is happening, as far as the Liberal Party is concerned, we have no involvement in their policy making and their decision making.”

Mr Bonhomme said he and his wife Alison Bonhomme, also a senior pastor at Horizon, had a good relationship with the Morrisons.

Mr Bonhomme, a South African who “knows a good curry when he sees one”, said Mr Morrison was famous for the ones he whipped up for friends at home.

“I don’t delve too much into it as far as Scott’s political world goes, my role in his life is more on a faith base,” he said.

“Yes, our PM is a Christian, he regularly goes to a church and with that my job is to provide a place for him to express his faith.”

Inside The Disastrous Attempt To Install Peter Dutton As Prime Minister

The pastor said he and his congregation were delighted about having one of their own in the nation’s top job.

“We are thrilled, we are just so excited and thankful and humbled all at the same time. There is a measure of responsibility too and we want to do our best. From our perspective we do all we can to represent our prime minister well,” he said.

“We are a bit more upbeat, a bit more up-tempo than a traditional church. The message is the same — love, justice, care — however the presentation is probably a bit louder, a bit more up tempo and a lot more musicians. I would say we are passionate in the way we share our beliefs.”

How Bill Shorten Plans To Beat Scott Morrison

Mr Morrison, a former treasurer and minister for social services, immigration and border protection minister, has been open about his faith.

He was an opponent of same-sex marriage (same-sex unions do not occur in the Horizon Church) and has been roundly criticised for his tough stance on asylum seekers.

In his maiden speech to parliament in 2008 Mr Morrison thanked Hillsong pastors Brian Houston and Leigh Cameron for their “great assistance”. Hillsong, like Horizon, is a Pentecostal mega-church. It was founded by Houston and his wife Bobbie in Sydney in 1983 and claims to attract 100,000 people around the world every week.

“Growing up in a Christian home, I made a commitment to my faith at an early age,” Mr Morrison said in his maiden speech. “My personal faith in Jesus Christ is not a political agenda.

“In recent times it has become fashionable to negatively stereotype those who profess their Christian faith in public life as ‘extreme’ and to suggest that such faith has no place in the political debate of this country.

Behind The Scenes Of A Leadership Spill

“Australia is not a secular country — it is a free country. This is a nation where you have the freedom to follow any belief system you choose. Secularism is just one. It has no greater claim than any other on our society.”

Hillsong, and therefore Pentecostal Christianity, has long been on the radar of the Liberal Party.

In 2005 the then NSW Premier Bob Carr, Treasurer Peter Costello and federal ministers Kevin Andrews, Alexander Downer and Peter Dutton attended Hillsong’s annual conference at the Sydney Superdome, along with another 20,000 people.

This is my story Raymond A Dale

Raymond-A-Dale

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise;

and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to

confound the things which are mighty.”

1 Corinthians  1:27

Dad calls me the black sheep of the family and well may he be right but even black sheep have something of value to give. This is my offering-

I am the eldest of four boys reared in a timber milling family on the Canterbury plains of New Zealand. I studied engineering at Timaru Technical College before beginning work as an electrical apprentice with Temuka Potteries.

Cycling home one evening I suffered serious injuries after being hit by a drunk driver. During those four weeks comatose an unknown local man had driven the two hours each way twice to visit me while unconscious in Dunedin Hospital. I only found this out months later during my first weekend home leave when my brothers pushed my wheel chair around the several blocks to meet this mysterious person. All I remember was the big Bible he opened up to various bits of paper every so often before looking up and smiling.

Unable to continue my apprenticeship and lacking funds I discovered I could hitch my way to town and back easily and without cost.

2000px-New_Zealand_location_map_transparent.svg

Encouraged I set off on a working sightseeing tour around New Zealand, suitcase in hand, only to be arrested and thrown in jail for vagrancy. I continued wandering doing various seasonal and laboring work until the accident compensation money was released on my turning twenty one. That very day I brought a British racing green MGB sports car and away I went a high flyer and all.

I was spending this money left right and centre when I experienced this terrifying dream. I was braking for a hard corner when my foot slammed straight to the floor. Where was the pedal??? Feverously I began stomping all over in search of it. I woke in a cold sweat running around in that strange dark room stabbing the air with both hands searching for that damned brake pedal. Immediately I knew it was about my not being able to stop spending this money until nothing was left but regret. I decided that if I am going to blow it then let’s go see the world doing it. I brought the best aluminum framed canvas backpack, a quality sleeping bag and a fine pair of walking boots and away I went as happy as Larry.

map_australia
After three years working and hitching around England and Europe I found myself in Australia broke drifting around hustling more than enough to get by on.

I receive free board and lodgings several times for camping in parked rail passenger wagons. Most security guys would just sit down and enjoy a good yarn before going on their way. I began writing lines by candle light as Mary Jane set wings to the imagination. “Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance” explains Carl Sandberg. I had a fair collection before throwing my pack and all belongings over the cliff but I will get to that shortly.

The only one I seem to remember. –

POT AND GRASS

Pot and grass and hash all dope,

Go live it all and only hope,

Your dreams rewards will never fall,

From orders big to orders small.

Sit and smoke and laugh aloud,

Find your living on a cloud,

No sense at all is ever seen,

Without a pipe of super dream.

I would sell these poems to people on the streets. Never made much but I sure met lots of arty and interesting people who opened doors to homes, religious groups, cults and hippie communes, but I never stayed long in one place.

North for winter and south for summer. Life was easy – to easy.

Going on 30 I was beginning to worry as to where this unresponsable life style was heading. I had tried settling down many times but with a week’s pay in hand it was out the window at midnight and off I would go as happy as Larry. The needed change came after school kids, swimming in a creek behind a village, showed me how to identify Gold Top magic mushrooms. I spent the next few days following that clear flowing stream eating nothing but whatever Gold Top mushrooms I came across and they were plenty. We are such stuff as dreams are made of nightmares and all.

It was a few days later while overlooking the Clarence river rail bridge the answer came.
Simply get rid of this pack on my back once and for all. I knew there was no turning back as I flung it far out over the cliff edge into the deep flowing waters below. I set out for Brisbane with nothing but the clothes on my back and a big bag of fresh mushrooms. Ran into Spider who invited me to crash in this soon to be demolished house down the Valley he and several other guys were occupying. I paid my keep by hitching down near Murwillumbah once a week to pick a bag of mushrooms.

Occult books ensnare my heart with their promise of success and power.
I rented a bed sitter under an elderly German ladies house high up on Constitution hill overlooking Brisbane city.  During the interview Mrs. Poppy asked if I smoked marijuana and could I show her some. When I gave her a bud she showed me this jar full of what looked like seeds. She grew lots of poppies together with many herbs, fruit and nuts of all sorts around about the house and back garden. Only this one time did she bring me some tasty stew. Half an hour later I began to realize I was out of my tree. As I sat there turning the cards Mrs. Poppy began smashing bones with the back of a small axe for Nero, her Collie dog. This voodoo like banging together with whatever she gave me brought about horrific visions that so scared the whatsits out of me I knew I had to make another clean break from this occult screw. I visited the Presbyterian Church around the corner and sought advice from the Reverend John Thompson.

A few days previous I was drawn to a framed print of Jesus knocking on a vine covered door sitting there in the window of a Salvo store. It now hung from the wall behind the table I was turning the cards on. The very day after the purchase a young lass bowls up to tell me about Jesus. As I walked on she quickly tore a stamp from a booklet demanding “take this!” I looked and blow me down if it was not a copy of the Holman print. She had my undivided attention. “Look carefully, she explained, there is no handle on the door Jesus is knocking on. Only you can open it from the inside and invite him in.”

John invited me around for many a meal after which he opened his Bible and shared scriptures like Romans 7:15-17  “For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.” I popped along to his service several times before he invited me to go visit another Church. There I was taken into a side room after the service and sat on a chair in the middle of a bare room. Several people prayed for what seemed like forever walking around about the chair. Several days later I found myself on a plane back to NZ, suitcase in hand.

2000px-New_Zealand_location_map_transparent.svg
I was working for Dad down the mill when the mushroom flashbacks became of concern enough to go see our family doctor who gave me a shot of something he said would cure these hallucinations. No sooner was I back at work when this shot kicked in causing uncontrollable muscle spasms to torture my jaw. Went back to the Doc who saw me immediately I burst through his front door. I was told this side effect would only last half an hour and to just go home and put something between your teeth to prevent grinding and just wait for it to pass.

Frustrated with life I volunteered myself in as a day patient at Princess Margaret Psychiatric hospital up in Christchurch to see if these experts could help me work things out.

Instead of answers I was given weekly injections plus heaps of colored pills daily.

The day was spent hanging around for group therapy and relaxation classes. I was soon barred from the relaxation classes because I would quickly fall asleep and start snoring rather loudly.

After two months their drugs were causing maddening shaking effects. When they refused to change the medication I simply refused to take any more full stop. Immediately I was dismissed from the program and shown the door. During this time the Holman print hung above my bed in the boarding house where I had forced myself to read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the Living Bible John had given me but the words made no sense at the time.

Aged 31 I rented a bedsitter in Timaru and hung the Holman print eye level on the back of the loo door. I found a job down the harbor dumping wool bales ready for shipping. At work I enjoyed the company of the foreman who spoke with a strong European accent and claimed to be an Austrian Count and Satanist.  As I sat there on the loo that April evening contemplating “The Light of The World” I had the sudden realization of just what sort of a good for nothing bastard I really was. It was like the bottom had fallen right out of my life leaving me impulsively suicidal. My guilt and shame so screamed for release that in utter desperation I began to cry out to God to prove he exists by taking this stuffed up life and you doing something with it. I’ve had it. Next thing my arms were raised and I was thanking and praising God. A deep euphoric peace had so calmed life’s storms it was like walking out of thick fog into sunshine and scenes arcadian. George MacDonald best explains “How often we look upon God as our last and feeblest resource. We go to him because we have nowhere else to go. And then we learn that the storms of life have driven us, not upon the rocks, but into the desired haven.
I dug out the Bible and tried reading it again. Only this time the words jumped right out reading me like an open book. Paul explains how this happens in first Corinthians chapter two verse fourteen. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” I soon discovered discernment is the great lack in today’s Church as I began devouring God’s Word and writing down those scriptures that spoke aloud. Having always been an avid reader I was soon including pithy passages from all readings as Emerson explains, “It is the good reader who makes the good book. In every book he finds passages which seem confidences or asides hidden from all else and unmistakably meant for his ear. The profits of books is according to the sensibility of the reader. The profoundest thought or passion sleeps in a mine until it is discovered by an equal mind and heart.”

Quotations are one of the best means for preserving truth against the tyranny of time, and particularly so during this prophesied time of great deception.

Senior Pastor Geoff Woodward of Perth’s Metro Church explains how…

They can challenge, inspire, correct or inform. At other times they will serve to teach us that as a society we have not become stronger or better despite the hard-learned wisdom of our forebears.

How do we know when we are being lied to is a good question to which I found the answer on a bumper sticker that simply read:

Avoid truth decay – read your Bible.

Barry Smith’s teachings also had a big impact on my understanding during those early days he spent with us in Timaru.”

The next few days at work were most interesting, excitedly telling my work mates about Jesus and how he had set me free from the wages of sin and death by the cleansing power of his blood. I was on fire. I gave one of the guys my pile of porn and returned the rented black and white TV. I was working behind one of the noisy dumpers happily singing my heart out, “Reach out Lord, reach out through me, for all the world your love to see” when suddenly everything stopped and it went dead quiet. I turned around and there was the Count in the far corner of the shed pointing his finger at me shouting “I have put the evil eye on you.” I responded immediately shouting back “I wear the full armor of God and your curse is bouncing straight back at you multiplied 100 times.” I was given the boot when I turned up for work the next morning. Shortly after I asked God for a new hobby heaps and heaps of interesting old books began turning up.

I had no sooner joined Timaru’s New Life Center Church when a family of born again ex exclusive Brethren invited me to come live with them and their two children with whom I remained until I married Jill in 1980. I met Jill and her new born baby through an ad in the local paper.  It was a pure sexual relationship up until my salvation. I would still pop in to excitedly share all the miraculous things that were going on with my new life in Christ. She come along to Church several times before answering the alter call but for the wrong reason (I did not understand this at the time). I was so over the hill yet so unsure of marrying a single mum until she brought this grand old house with its workshop out the back. It was Isaiah 4:1 and I fell for it hook line and sinker. We were married for 13 years during which time she regularly worked night shift as a registered nurse. I worked with the Chief Post Office until we moved with our 2 boys over to Perth in March 84. In Perth I had regular work with TAIMAC video Corporation as their production set builder up until we lost out on the Chanel 10 license.

Since then except for two years at Bible college and another couple at TAFE, I have virtually locked myself away from the world in my books. As G K Chesterton points out

The disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present. History is a hill or high point of vantage, from which alone men see the town in which they live or the age in which they are living.

What I discovered in these old books was amazing and the oldest book the most amazing of all. Two were written by a Dr Nikola Tesla.

The reason why most people, including myself, had never heard of this genius and his world changing inventions soon became apparent. He built with George Westinghouse the world’s first alternating current generator at Niagara falls. All his inventions like alternating current, the induction motor, radio, radiant energy, the Tesla coil, remote control, fluorescent lighting, x-rays etc were discoveries made in his search for the best means to generate and transmit electrical energy wirelessly. His childhood dreams were to harness the power of Niagara falls and to build what he called a electric flying machine, having neither wings, gasbags nor propellers, powered wirelessly from ground generators. He later discovered that Electric power is everywhere present in unlimited quantities and can drive the world’s machinery without the need of coal, oil, gas, or any other fuels.

The global warming carbon scam becomes apparent when one understands the profit motivated suppression of alternate free clean electrical energy systems to power our homes, transportation and industrial needs just as God intended.

Michael Faraday wrote the following after testing his first magnet powered generator,

There is a wheel in the physical mechanism of the action that is missing, whereby electricity (energy) should be derived from Magnetism without the expenditure of mechanical energy.

Since Tesla many inventors have discovered various means to tap into this vast sea of energy filling all space.

I have compiled a DVD Encyclopedia on alternate energy systems.

I also compiled a multimedia DVD “Flying Saucers, Aliens and the New World Order” as a means of sharing what I understand to be the Secret History of the world together with the answer to that great question WHY?

This DVD includes over 10 hours of many previously censored documentary film clips.

My interest in UFO’s began as a 16 year old boy with a new book in dads library called “Flying Saucers have Landed,” published in 1954 by George Adamski. His story was fictitious but it was the included flying saucer photos taken through his six inch telescope that caught my attention. I later learned these photos were of a German WW2 Tesla Haunebu craft. The Kenneth Arnold sighting followed 10 days later by the Roswell incident began the successful cloaking of these man made craft.

I finally arranged the best of my research pdf books and files into THE JOURNEY MANS LIBRARY on DVD. I love this unknown authors description of the library as being that grand place of learning. “What grand companionship await us as we turn from the noises and turmoil of life, and sit down for an evening amongst our books. Kings of thought of every age stand in ferried ranks waiting to do our bidding. Poets of the elder time, and of these later years – Homer and Milton and Pope, Longfellow and the Browning’s and Lowell – sing at our bidding their immortal songs. Historians repeat for us the deeds of other days. Philosophers dig deep for us about the roots of knowledge. Shakespeare unveils for us the mystic workings of heart and mind, and laughs or weeps, or fights or dies for us, just as we desire. Great students, with dreams on fire with God, offer us the result of their lifelong studies. The men of science probe nature’s very heart for secrets, and lay their trophies at our feet. These are the grand and silent fellowships that wait for us. They have hoarded their genius to the uttermost, and made us heirs of all the ages, in the foremost files of time.”

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie,Revelation 2:9This Synagogue is engaged in a full scale war to enthrone Lucifer in a rebuilt Solomon’s temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. From there they will have absolute power to control everybody and everything. No one will be able to buy or sell without their mark. The final stage for this New World Luciferian Order were set in place by Jesuit Astronomers, Copernicus and Galileo, 500 years ago.  Jesuit Priests have always been the world’s leaders in astronomy with the best equipment such as the world’s most powerful binocular telescope named LUCIFER situated on Mt Graham in America now ready to splash mind numbing news

across Orwellian screens. The Roman Catholic Church has already established an alien Embassy ready to greet them[1]Pope Francis Talks About Aliens; Says He Would Welcome Martians to Receive Baptism read

Jesuit lies have been so ingrained since childhood that we neither question nor give them a single thought.  For instance we all know that everything came into being after the big bang billions of years ago. That the earth is a globe spinning  at 1000 mph as it revolves around the sun at 66,000 mph in a universe expanding at half the speed of light. Those deep space shots have show us just how small and insignificant planet earth really is amongst trillions of billions of galaxies in an infinitely expanding universe. Mix this in with Darwin’s theory and what do you get?

The big problem with this Jesuit interpretation is that my King James Bible clearly states the earth is not moving.

Examples are found in 1 Chronicles16:30: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable.” Psalm 93:1: “Thou hast fixed the earth immovable and firm …”  Psalm 96:10: “He has fixed theearth firm, immovable …” Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.” Isaiah 45:18: “…who made theearth and fashioned it, and himself fixed it fast…” Whom do you believe?

I agree with Eric Dubay, author of “The Flat Earth Conspiracy[2]http://www.amazon.com/The-Flat-Earth-Conspiracy-Eric-Dubay/dp/1312627166 who confirms  “this modern atheistic, Big Bang, heliocentric globe earth, chance evolution, paradigm spiritually controls humanity by removing God or any sort of intelligent design from the mind and replaces purposeful divine creation with haphazard random cosmic coincidence. And so by removing Earth from the motionless center of the universe these Masons have moved us physically and metaphysically from a place of supreme importance to one of complete nihilistic indifference. If the Earth is the center of the Universe then the ideas of God creation and a purpose for human existence are resplendent, but if the Earth is just one of millions of suitable planets revolving around billions of stars then the ideas of God creation and a specific purpose for Earth and human existence become highly implausible.”

Are we being set up for a false flag Alien UFO invasion is a good question.
Alien invaders would force men of all nations, colors, and creeds together to fight a common enemy just as President Regan suggested while addressing the UN. They plan to reduce the world’s population by 90% to an easily controllable level. It seems the devils greatest asset is the doubt people have about his existence.

moneymazeFollowing the money trail one discovers our nation is controlled by those who print and control our interest bearing debt money.
These European bankers, better known as the Rothschild family, gained control of England’s wealth after Napoleon was defeated at the battle of Waterloo. Rothschild’s spies brought the news of Napoleon’s defeat a full 20 hours before it became public knowledge. By quickly spreading the rumor that Napoleon had won, investors realised their shares would now be worth zilch and desperately began selling for whatever little they could get. Rothschild agents in turn brought these shares at rock bottom prices. Of course once it was discovered that Napoleon had actually lost, these shares shot straight back up again making the Rothschild’s the new owners of the bank of England. They are also the bankers for the Roman Catholic Church as well as for the Queen and Commonwealth.

Since the early 1830’s America did not have a central bank. The Jesuits desperately wanted a central bank in America so as to have a bottomless reservoir from which to draw the funds needed for their three world wars, and other hideous schemes, designed to bring the world back under papal rule. Benjamin Guggenheim, Isidor Straus and John Jacob Astor were the three wealthiest men preventing a Rothschild central bank from being established in America.

These three fully understood, as did Thomas Jefferson who warned,

Bank created credit issued as a repayable, interest bearing debt, absolutely guarantees that we will, as a community, go ever deeper into debt, until the system is reformed or we lose our possessions.

Titanic_paperboyThis competition had to be removed in such a way that no one would ever suspect the Jesuits. In 1912, the year before the Federal Reserve was established, these three ultra wealthy Americans, were given free tickets and coerced to board the maiden voyage of the unsinkable Titanic. The Titanic’s Captain Edward Smith was a short robe Jesuit who faithfully followed his masters orders. The following year, with all competition removed, Nathan Rothschild finally got his central bank firmly established in America together with the introduction of the income tax. The Catholics celebrate this victory with their red mass where they pray to their long dead inquisitor Thomas More. The Rothschild’s celebrate it by making April 15th, the day the Titanic sank, America’s tax day. “From now on, depressions will be scientifically created,” warned Senator Charles A. Lindbergh Sr.

In the soon coming global money crash these Ashkenazi Talmudic Jews will offer to erased all personal debts providing you accept their micro-chip mark inserted under the skin.

In the 13th chapter of the book of revelation it is written, “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred and sixty six.[3]https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+13%3A16-17&version=KJV

If you examine the so-called Star of David, or hexagram as on the Israeli flag, you will discover it has six points, forms six equilateral triangles, and its interior forms a six sided hexagon. The symbol of the true Torah believing Jewish people is the Menorah candle holder.

The Word of God declares the world loves darkness rather than light but nevertheless, there are those who would welcome some real tangible evidence of the reality of God and his plan for his world and to all such I trust Visionary Quotations will find its way, proving to be a storehouse of treasure and the means of opening many blind eyes.

“They all of them liked quotations” (Lewis Carrol)

Persecution – the big picture and genocide

ChooseLife-Australia (2)

Just in case – like me – you’re a little slow in seeing it.

choose-life-australiaYes, we have known that the last 100 years has brought more persecution of Christians than all previous centuries combined. Open Doors with its “worldwatch” lists the countries where persecution is most prolific.

North Korea highlights in our day sinister persecution by the state where walls have ears and people just disappear. It still happens in China and Vietnam. We must not forget our suffering church brothers and sisters.

ISIS has brought a new level of military persecution by Islamic forces. Yes, it is about taking over of territories and establishing a Caliphate, but it has graduated from Al-Qaeda before it to specifically targeting Christians and Christian villages in a more specifically genocidal fashion.

We have seen – and we wore (and still wear) our T-shirts with the Arabic letter ن or “N” that Islamic forces put on the houses of Christians prior to killing, raping, or just driving them out to an uncertain future.

We read in the Religious Liberty Prayer Bulletins how ISIS has specifically targeted Christian Assyrian villages in northern Syria and likewise driving them out (where?) but keeping more than 200 hostage and shooting them in small groups. Before being killed – in their orange jumpsuits and kneeling before their captors – the Christians declare “we are Assyrian Christians. My name is…”

We have seen the beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians – along with many others – on the shore of the Mediterranean, once again with declarations of belonging to Jesus Christ, along with the chilling “message to the nations of the Cross”. All videotaped for the world to see.

Even in the attacks on shopping centres and schools we have seen – and here at home in the West – the specific targeting of Christians for execution.

There is an amazing insight by Islamic military forces that Islam and Christianity are implacably opposed and that supernatural forces are at work.  Here in the West we seem to be slower to acknowledge this – at least openly. We pretend that we can find a common ground. But the Boko Haram in northern  Nigeria have recognised that spiritual powers have sometimes sabotaged their military efforts and have targeted and killed Christians in order to prevent them from praying. If only we realised more – and engaged in – the power of such praying…

And here in the “free” West we are losing our freedom to speak. Even in our submissions to parliament our arguments against euthanasia and our support for children having mothers and fathers – argued without any “Christian” content – are sought to be dismissed simply because they have been put together by Christians.

If we dare publicly to support marriage as between male and female then we are charged with “hate speech”.

And in our Islamic communities the push for Sharia Law continues. The severe persecution of those who become Christian continues. Islam is not only intrinsically and implacably opposed to Christian belief but also against “Christian” civilisation and democracy with its foundations on Judeo-Christian principles. There is no freedom in Islam unless we submit.

And when Islamic youth sees the decadence of the West, and hears the call of their teachers for purification of themselves and then others by sacrificial Jihad so the Caliphate will be established, they commit to the cause of what they see as the call of the prophet and true Islam and become terrorists.

Can we change this?  Not while Wahhabi Islam – as in Saudi Arabia – and ISIS has the upper hand in the Islamic world.

Realising – as the Boko Haram do – that this warfare is so much more than “against flesh and blood” (Eph 6:10-18), that the battle is spiritual and not with “the weapons of this world” (2 Cor 10:3-5), we desperately need to pray. To pray, for ourselves, for our children and grandchildren, for God’s protection, that God’s Name will be honoured in our nation and we must immerse ourselves in – and commit to memory – God’s Word, the “sword of the Spirit”, so we will be prepared for the future.

We may find ourselves in the position of Habbakkuk (are we there yet?) where we face purification by a God-defying external force by our continued God-defying attitude internally.

ISIS and the Strategy of God

isis-bannerr

ISIS[1]The terrorist group, Islamic State of Iraq and Syria that has recently invaded Iraq.

by Dr. John Yates

Personal Matters

Last Saturday (5/7/14) I had the option of listening to an Oxford theologian or attending a prayer meeting for the situation in the Middle East. Naturally I went to the prayer meeting. It was quite some experience. Whilst it reminded me of some encounters amongst the Coptic Orthodox in Egypt, it was uniquely wonderful to hear prayers and songs in Aramaic, Jesus own first language. Later there was some fervent intercession in Arabic; the words were foreign but the sense and spirit were transparently Christ-centred. Jesus was interceding for his suffering people in Iraq and beyond (Rom 8:26; 34).

Whilst Christianity has been a constant presence in that part of the world for almost 2,000 years,  the recent resurgence of radical Islam has seen an intensification of the expulsion of Christians and is expected to see a halving of the church population by 2020. Amongst Bible believing Protestants it is popular to focus on Israel, but very few of us seem to show any real interest in the ongoing slaughter and dispossession of Orthodox and Catholic Christians.

Perhaps because differences in outer trappings lead us to assume that they are not “born again”. Whilst my exposure to Eastern Christianity is limited, I have met some profound saints amongst their number. This can be directly attributed to the refining power of persecution (1 Pet 1:6-7). Personal sentiments aside, I believe the Lord spoke to me about some vital things during Saturday’s time of prayer.

Confess Your Sins

One of the most quietly dynamic dimensions of the prayer meeting was when Dave Sibley the founder of Perth Prayer[2]https://www.facebook.com/pages/Perth-Prayer/319659381407140 quietly confessed the sin of his nation, America, in trying to make peace in the Middle East through guns. The folly of the Iraq expedition is now historically self-evident, but whilst several made remarks about how the US led invasion has made the situation of Christians across the Middle East vastly more difficult, no one mentioned Australia. Perhaps our Arab friends are simply too polite to mention our national responsibility for the current fiasco in Iraq.

As a local however I can be more direct. We followed the British into WW I, the Americans into Vietnam and continued this pattern by going into Iraq. Perhaps we can learn from current events to be more insightful and less deferential to the geopolitical “powers that be”. Confessing our share in the overconfidence of the “coalition of the willing” to master Iraq and the Arab world, how can this situation be redeemed?

Satan the Enemy

The full extent of the barbarism of ISIS includes crucifixions, cross amputation of limbs, beheadings, whippings, the imposition of jizya (protection money) on infidels and demands that their fighters be given sexual access to women. The Western response to such violent extremes is as politically predictable as it is confused. On the right we have insecure aggression; a militant response is the only way to stem the tide of Islam. (Bible affirming Christians are not immune to this temptation.)

Equally fearful are left leaning politicians, journalists and liberal Christians who are still trying to persuade us that Islam is a “peaceful religion”. Anyone with knowledge of history knows this to be untrue. The Western Church as a whole finds it easier to be political rather than spiritual in it responses to Islamists because deep down we know we lack spiritual power.

We conveniently forget that, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (Eph 6:12-13). The real enemy is the devil not ISIS. Few Western Christian leaders are willing to admit how deeply we are deceived and how much we lack insight into the tactics of Satan and the strategy of God.

The Strategy of God

The nations in the Middle East can seem to us to be no more than lines on a map, and our Eastern brothers and sisters in the faith little more than anonymous Christians. The truth is that the heart of God has long been in this part of the world, and his heart is presently filled with pain (Gen 6:6). When the children of God are persecuted Jesus is persecuted, as the Lord said to Saul who was set on ravaging the church in Syria, ““I am Jesus who you are persecuting”” (Acts 9:5).

Only one thing can change alleviate the pain of God, living out the blood of the cross so that he receives more children. When the blood of the martyrs is united with the blood of Christ the result must be the release of spiritual power; provided there is the release of forgiveness. “Then they stoned him (Stephen)… He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died.” (Acts 7:58, 60).

Scripture is clear; “I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” (Rom 16:19-20). ““And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.””(Revelation 12:10-11). If in the sovereign plan of God our brothers and sisters in the Middle East are being slaughtered this must be for a grand purpose (Acts 2:23; Rev 5:6). This grand purpose is an unprecedented revival amongst Arabic speaking peoples.

We see signs of this sort of move of God amongst Iranians all over the world; surely it is the turn of those closest to the birthplace of Islam. Revival is a sovereign act of God, but it always bears the character of Jesus (Luke 23:34). Unconditional forgiveness must flow through the Church towards those whom we might naturally hate (Luke 6:27-28).

I see a torrent of forgiving love flooding towards the Middle East as a hub of the presence of evil in the age long conflict between God and Satan. As believers at the four corners of the globe focus their love and prayers on Iraq and beyond the Lord will surely move by his Spirit to turn many to Jesus. Islam is showing its true colours, its due time for the Church of God to do the same. Our sign is the sign of the cross.

Conclusion

Leaving the prayer meeting last Saturday I was thanked by several Iraqi Christians.

The truth is I counted it a privilege to be there.

Something of the holy grace of Jesus is deeply embedded in the ancient Christian Churches who for so long have maintained the faith against the tide of Islam.

In the back to front world of God’s kingdom we comfortable Western Christians are those in spiritual poverty and the privileged are those who are being persecuted for righteousness sake (Matt 5:10; Rev 3:17).

The decimating advance of ISIS across Iraq is not just another news story, it is another opportunity for the Australian Church to come of age and cooperate with the costly and uncomfortable strategy of God. I wonder how many more such opportunities will be offered before the limit of the divine patience towards us is reached?

In The Image of God

Reflections on the Opening Ceremony 2012 Olympics

Yes, it was all there – the creativity, love, community spirit, the inspiration of song and music, international cooperation, national spirit recovering from tragedy, engineering, ingenuity, seemingly faultless programming and coordination, the emphasis on fair play and sportsmanship, the honour and excitement and sheer joy of being there in a spirit of freedom, the honour of being human.

Yes, it is a great honour and privilege to be human.

We share that honour with the Son of God who came in our likeness.

To be created in God’s Image with all that means, to share that with others, to see it in others – even just a little peek – is such a privilege and joy. And yes, it means all peoples and races and tribes and tongues. And yes, it means in all states of disability and dependency. And yes, it means from the beginning of life to its natural conclusion. And yes, it means that a new-born baby is worth more than a pig. And yes, it means that a babe in the womb also has that Image even though we cannot yet see its evidences.

And as we get excited by the Olympic spirit let us also get excited by the display of what it means to be human as evidenced by that spirit and what it means to be created in the Imago Dei.

And yes, let us get excited and motivated defending what it means to be human in the alienated and our most vulnerable, for all at risk, and renew our efforts for the unborn, for life itself.

Church has awakened to engaging in politics

I must say my contribution to the fight for justice in Malaysia is very minute. For participating in Bersih rallies, I just hoped to add myself to the total number for one more soul. This letter is not only my account of my Bersih 3.0 story, but also a comment about its impact.

FMT LETTER:

bersih-3-0From Rev Allen Tan (Yew Fook), via e-mail
I had several experiences in protest rallies including Bersih 2.0. I got myself prepared for Bersih 3.0 even before it was announced. I took part in the rally as a responsible Christian minister as well as a Malaysian citizen. I cannot tolerate the corrupt practices by the present government.

I remembered the words of Rev Martin Luther King, Jr, “Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor, it must be demanded by the oppressed.” Bersih rallies are about asking for free and fair Elections. I cannot tolerate any political coalition to take governance through dirty means. As such I cannot sit at home and let others to protest for me.

I took pains to request the Bersih organising committee to hold the rally on a Saturday and not a Sunday. I was grateful to them as Bersih 2.0. was also on a Saturday. I anticipated that this time round there would be many Christian participants since the Church has awakened to engaging in politics.

As what I did for Bersih 2.0., I lodged in Kuala Lumpur center with two other friends. I could sense that something was different from Bersih 2.0. Those days the atmosphere was very tense. The authorities declared that Bersih was an illegal organisation and subsequently anything related to Bersih was illegal, including their shirts, caps and badges.

Ironically, prior to the Bersih 2.0. rally, some people were even arrested for wearing a yellow shirt! They intimidated people constantly, warning them not to take part in the rally or else they would have to face the music.

So those days we had to take a commuter train service to KL to avoid road-checks. This time round we drove to KL despite the “scare” tactics, though not quite similar than last year. The mayor of KL City Hall Ahmad Fuad Ismail had obtained a court order to ban people from entering Dataran Merdeka which was our venue for the rally.

He had said that he would not close roads to Dataran Merdeka, but as a matter of fact, roads were closed. Bersih insisted on using Dataran Merdeka  as it has the significance of independence. Barisan Nasional has bound the people for 55 years, and it is the time for us to cry for freedom from their slavery.

Who was that non-elected mayor who banned the people from using Dataran Merdeka? Dataran Merdeka  belongs to all Malaysians and the mayor and BN leaders have no right to own them alone. When they cordoned off Dataran Merdeka, it conveyed a message that BN was colonising the people.

The necessity to take to the streets

Not many would think like me. Even Christian ministers would argue that prayer would sufficiently spur change, and they doubted the necessity to take things to streets. I urged Christians not to pray at home but pray at Dataran Merdeka .

It is true that it is never the first option for most people to engage in street protests in order to express their discontentment against regimes. It always happened only when all avenues were exhausted. When the authorities do not want to listen to the people, when they do not want to reform to bless their own people, and when they sealed up the mouth of the public by controlling the media, the only avenue for the people is to take matters into the streets.

What took place in the Arab world was not something which erupted suddenly. The Arab Spring has seen the dictators overthrown!

Bersih 2.0. was organised because our present electoral system is not free and fair. So they came up with eight petitions for electoral reform. The government then set up a Parliamentary Select Committee to study into the matter. Unfortunately, after seven months, the PSC only adopted one out of the eight items. Other suggestions recommended by the PSC were insignificant. It was for show that the government is committed to reforms.

Something serious took place on the last day of the second session of Parliament this year (April 19, 2012). Nine bills were passed in just one single day! The speed was sufficient for BN to win an Oscar award for Comedian Movies. It is another “Malaysia Boleh” and “Only in Malaysia” indeed! The new bills included an amendment to The Election Offenses Act 1954 to the disadvantage of the Oppositions.

This bill alone justified holding Bersih 3.0 This bill was so secretive that it escaped the attention of many Members of Parliament on both sides of the divide. Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak told the people that he wanted to create the most ever transparent government in Malaysian history. Now with this ridiculous bill passed, what kind of transparency can we bank on?

The electoral roll is full of thousands of phantom voters. Names that are not found in the Mykad department were registered as voters. There were voters being transferred to other constituencies, some even away from their home states. There were voters who have been voting in the past finding their names missing.

Bersih rally in KL had 250,000 to 300,000 participants. Besides, rallies were held in other cities and towns throughout Malaysia. Globally they were held in 35 countries and 85 locations. With the wrath of so many people, the government should bow to the wishes of the public. They should heed the petitions of the people. They should commit to electoral reform before the next General Election.

On the day of the rally, people gathered in six meeting points beginning at 6am. More than 30 roads leading to the city were closed. For Light Rail Transport, some stations were closed. At about 1.30pm, people began to move nearer to Dataran Merdeka. The crowd was so big that it overflowed to cover up many roads and streets around Dataran Merdeka .

The gathering was peaceful. People sang Negaraku. They also chanted slogans such as “Hidup Hidup, Hidup Bersih”, “No to Lynas”, and others. At 2.30pm my friends and I moved to other streets. We tried to squeeze through the crowd at Masjid Jamek LRT station but to no avail. So we came to the river-side for a chat. Many people were scattered here and there all around.

We began to move back to the Bar Council at about 3.20pm. The Bersih 3.0 organising chairman S Ambiga did dismiss the crowd shortly before we moved away. But most of the people including us did not get the news. After a while a water cannon truck at the Bar Council sprayed jets of chemical-laced water all around. The crowd was fleeing and screaming. I took the opportunity to video the incident from a distance of 50 meters.

About two minutes later, I heard sounds of “Pak Pak Pak…” I thought the tear gas was fired in front of me but for some time I saw no smoke. I then turned around and to my horror more than three canisters were smoking behind me, the nearest one being only 10 meters away. I dashed through the dense smoke by holding my breath.

Out of panic I forgot to pull out my handkerchief from the pocket of my trousers. Instead, I took out my porous webcam pocket to cover my nose and mouth. I could not hold back my breath for too long, and subsequently I sucked in the smoke through my nose and mouth. My eyes, nose and throat stung.

When I was at a safe place, I quickly sucked some bamboo salt, rinsed my mouth, drank some water, and washed my eyes. I shared my salt with others, Malays and Chinese.

When I went back to Jalan Sultan, only did I learn that the police did similar attacks at many points. People recounted their ordeal that the police were entrapping the people with tear gas from all angles. That was malicious! The right way to do is not by attacking the unarmed protesters but by dispersing them without harming them.

Brutality of the police was disgusting

police_violence_at_bersih_3From the online media, I read about the violence by the police. They beat up the protesters. They even intruded into the restaurant and harassed the customers who wore yellow shirts. The journalists were not spared. Many of them were beaten and their cameras being seized. How can we expect BN to lead us into an advanced and democratic country when we see what they did was so barbaric?

They did not even respect the International Law that that says they cannot harm journalists? The Home Minister Hishamuddin claimed that deleting photos was a Standard Operating Procedure. The next day the Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar clarified that it is not a SOP. How come a Home Minister was so ignorant about his trade?

The brutality of the police was disgusting. They arrested 512 people. The attack by police on the protesters started when some people broke through the barricades. Was it a good excuse to take action? The Bar Council was right that they said the court order only ban the people from Dataran Merdeka.

Though people got into the barricade they were still outside of Dataran Merdeka . According to Ambiga, it was likely a sabotage. Well, those were agent provocateurs. It sounds so familiar about the claim from what took place in many gatherings of Pakatan Rakyat which were being harassed by rascals!

The greatest loser in Bersih 3.0

Najib_Razak_2008-08-21Who is the greatest loser in Bersih 3.0? Najib! Remember in Bersih 2.0, before the rally, Ambiga hoped to meet up with Najib but her wish did not take place. He dumped all the responsibility to the IGP. In Bersih 3.0, prior to the rally, Najib was so silent about it. He dumped all the responsibility to the Home Minister. The later was flip-flopping. At first he said he had no problem with the rally. Then he dumped all the problems to the mayor. And the mayor dumped all the problems on the IGP.

I could relate the story of Exodus with the dilemma of Najib. When Moses asked the Pharaoh to allow the Israelites to leave Egypt, God was behind it. God told Moses He would harden the heart of Pharaoh. When Pharaoh refused to let God’s people go, actually it was God who had hardened his heart. For Bersih 2.0 and 3.0, God has hardened the heart of Najib. That tells why he made the wrong decisions. When man is behind a move, it will fail. But when God is behind it, it will succeed.

After the rally on 428, the next day, the atmosphere all around Malaysia became fresher. But our struggle does not end here. We still need to tussle hard with the evil forces in order to bring down the corrupt regime. Hidup Rakyat! Bangkit Rakyat! Hidup Bersih! Hallelujah, Malaysia shall enter into the year of Jubilee soon. Probably the General Election will be delayed further to September or later.

Please take note that on Sept 16 this year, Malaysia will be finishing her 49 years of slavery, and on this day we will enter into the 50th year, the year of Jubilee according to the Bible. Malaysia shall be free from the oppression by BN. Malaysia shall become a Rainbow Nation. Rainbow – a symbol of diversity. Our diverse races shall come to fruition as everyone is a Malaysian!

March for the Next Generation

Pastor Took to the Streets for the Next Generation

Pastor Allen Tan (Yew Fook)
I am a Pastor. I am not affiliated with any political party, but instead I cared about the country over the years about the abnormal things surrounding us. I wrote in the newspapers for the past three decades, and had been a columnist and a feature writer, criticizing about inappropriate policies and practices by both the ruling and opposition parties. And I would provide constructive ideas. In the process of writing, the freedom for my expressions was getting narrower by the day. Thus subsequently I wrote less recently!

bersih2.0I looked forward to the July 9 BERSIH 2.0 Assembly. I figured out how to participate in it, because the Federal Government and the Royal Police Force had been making a lot of scared actions and distorted information.

When Bersih complied with the King to take into account the social order and were willing to hold a rally at Merdeka Stadium instead of a street march, people thought that was good news and they could be assured of free participation. Who knows the Government and the police have classified Bersih as an illegal organization and refused to grant a permit!

Finally, the IGP called upon them to change to the Shah Alam Stadium. It was strange, since Bersih was an illegal organization, why they were allowed to hold it in another stadium?

Bersih chose Merdeka Stadium was right move. The venue had a special meaning in it, that is, Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1957 declared Malaya an independent country at that stadium, and he became the first Prime Minister. Independence speaks of freedom. The purpose of the rally was to urge the government to implement a fair and clean electoral system and to submit a memo the King at the palace. So Merdeka Stadium is most suitable for that purpose.

Since it was not permitted, which means people will be hampered by the authorities! In recent days newspapers and radio and television broadcast were overwhelmed with news about road closures, roadblocks, arrests, calling people not to go to gatherings, and other like information. Malaysians are generally afraid of going against orders, so such information will certainly reach a certain level of scared effect.

When the date approached, the government further announced that on July 8 Puduraya Bus Station would be closed for buses from outstations, and public buses to stop operating on July 9 in Kuala Lumpur city center. Two years ago I participated in the Anti-ISA rally.

With the experience about the action by the authorities, I expected that KTM, LRT and Monorail transports would encounter unexpected difficulties for the public on July 9. And it came to pass! So two other Pastors and I made arrangement to put up a night on July 8 at the vicinity of Jingwu Hill.

Over at the place we lodged we had a pleasant surprise to see the Bishop from a certain denomination was there with a Pastor from one of its Churches. They will participate in the rally too! It was a full-house at the building that evening being occupied by a group of Christians who were participating in the rally, we were not alone!

Oppressed by fear

At evening we bought a night-issue “China Press”, and found the heading that says “Will Arrest Everyone on Sight”. That had really frightened us off. We were still flesh and blood! On Sunday 8.30 am I would be preaching in Petaling Jaya. If KL was to be declared a state of emergency on Saturday, or if there is no public transport to go home, or I was being arrested, who will take over my itinerary?

For Malaysian Christian Churches, currently it is rare for making bold speech, if Pastors were to be arrested, would you get appraisal from church leaders and believers or would you be rebuked? I let the readers to judge about it! A few days ago the Federal Reserve Unit had done training with the Army, thus would they open fire on the crowd? Thousands of Malay martial arts fighters had pledged to fight with the people who joined the rally, would they deliberately cause trouble? Oh if I die let me die!

If the late Rev. Martin Luther King did not come forward to confront the authorities boldly over discrimination of the Blacks, there would not be a black man President like Barack Obama today. I went to bed early that night; maybe it was an act of trying to bury my worries. I woke up middle of the night praying. Saturday morning when my eyes were opened seeing the first ray of sunlight, I felt a deep peace that had surpassed understanding. Fear no longer oppressed me! I knew God will do great things in this country now!

We go out for breakfast at Kota Raya around Sultan Street area. We saw people who were here and there, and we knew these were our fellow partners. We returned to our rooms and watched live TV coverage. Maybe it did not strike the authorities’ minds that the live broadcast had in fact become a good source of information for the rally participants to plan for strategic actions. Reports also said many people were arrested at the train stations and many were barred from getting out of the gates.

Our rooms were at a high floor which enabled us to have a bird’s eye-view on crowd movements. At 1.00 pm we saw people flock to Petaling and Sultan Streets with shouts of slogans. A Pastor and I got down and joined the crowd, and whereas another Pastor had gone down earlier. By then we lost contact with him. Our group could not break through the Hang Tuah Road which was heavily guarded by FRU police, so we turned back and headed to the Maybank Building.

There, whenever we heard of an applause it was because of a large group of people been successfully breaking through the police barricade. In a short moment more and more people had converged at Pudu Road area. Our group had a lot of people, roughly estimated as at least twenty thousand people, right? People who were bold wore yellow Bersih shirts. If not, some held yellow balloons, flowers, and other yellow things instead.

Most people did not dress up in yellow so as to avoid being arrested without first accomplishing our missions! Like a carnival here, we met old and new friends, regardless of race. Then who say we were not Sons of Malaysia? Who say we were not a peaceful assembly?

We had three major races of West Malaysia and people from East Malaysia. I am pleased to see many young people there, including many teenage girls. Seeing those young people who had a heart for pursuing democracy would mean there is rescue and hope for Malaysia!

Tensions likened to a battlefield

Our plan was to hold a rally in the Stadium instead of a street march. Since we could not get near to the stadium we had to rally in the streets. The crowd gradually walked to Puduraya along Pudu Road. I did not know who made decisions for the lead. I thought we would make a detour to head to the Stadium by passing by the old Pudu Jail. We were forced to halt when there was a FRU barricade at Bukit Bintang Road in front of the traffic lights.

We could not cross the “Red Sea” (the red helmets of the FRU police were like the Red Sea). Where is Moses then? FRU were carrying rifles, my God, we were unarmed, why they needed to heavily arming themselves? Police were stationed at back and front of the crowd as if we were in a battlefield. The police had caused unnecessary tensions in KL city center.

malaysia-protestx-largeSoon I came to see water cannon trucks arrived at Maybank.
To my previous experience at the Anti-ISA rally, I knew the police would soon launch a water cannon and tear gas attack simultaneously! I cautioned my Pastor friend to run. I believed many of us were first-time participants, and that was why they did not guard themselves against the police’s swift action.

True enough, jets of water were being shot onto the crowd and were followed by sounds of bang bang bang – tear gas was fired.

Many people were trapped in thick smoke, and then the victims suffered teary eyes and running noses. Their visions were hindered and they sprawled in panic trying to escape out of the messy scene. Though others who were not trapped in the thick smoke, they too were infected by the gas. teargas bersh

We passed around mineral salts to each other and we sucked in our mouths and were thus relieved. Many used it to wash their eyes and faces. Because too many people were using mobile phones, we were unable to connect with our other Pastor friend. When we were backed to the room in the evening, then only we knew that he had encountered a miserable experience, that he was hit badly by water cannon and gas at Maybank area. I knew how terrible it was when two years ago how I was hit by them at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Road inside the mall. So let me express my empathy to all of you who were victims at the 709 Bersih Rally.

At about 2.20 pm, it began to rain, it was quite heavy, but we said it was God who helped us because the rain will extinguish the smokes. Yes, the police had indeed stopped firing tear gas by then! And water from the water cannons was chemical-laced which would cause irritations on the skins. Now the rain water had helped to flush off the chemicals, Hallelujah!

Some people wanted to leave for shelter when it rains, but we heard voices shouting, “Do not be afraid, and do not run away!” People then stood in the rain and some others even sat down on the road. The rain had made us more encouraged! We were sand-witched in between by the police at Pudu Road.

The rain was getting heavier, when it was the heaviest, water cannon trucks, police trucks and the FRU sped down from Bukit Bintang junction. The crowd fled for their lives, dashing to the nearest place they could hide. My friend and I fled into the small lane next to Tung Shin Hospital. Almost immediately we carefully moved back and peeped.

The atmosphere was too tense, and police were moving up and down Pudu Road. Water cannons and tear gas were fired, and even hospitals were not spared. Many people had fled into Tung Shin Hospital and Chinese Maternity Hospital. As police were hunting for the participants in the hospitals, some of them risked their lives by scaling wire-barbed walls and in order to cross to the other side where I was.

We helped them.

I got numbed, and I thought why in the world the police wanted to treat us like criminals and terrorists?

What wrong had we done?

We were peacefully people who just wanted to make petitions for a fair and clean electoral system!

Marched by five-star hotels

More people had joined us at the lane. Some guys asked and directed us to go to Bukit Nanas. Some people were being dispersed by the attack just now and they did not get to connect with us again, but we still had a long queue of people, say, maybe at least 10,000 people, right? We’re really marching in procession now, and this was not our original plan. We passed by residential areas, Ampang road, and Raja Raja Chulan Road.

Wow, there were so many five-star hotels and commercial buildings along the way, and the procession had attracted many foreign tourists, staff and the passers-by. They stood outside their buildings, and many of them were busy taking pictures and videos!

That was definitely one more way God was helping us!

Those spectators would certainly spread the news back home. As we marched we repeatedly shouted slogans such as “Bersih Bersih, Pilihan Raya (clean clean, general elections); Bangkit Rakyat (Rise up People).” At this time, many police had just looked on, there were no actions from them, and perhaps they did not want the tourists to see the negative image of the Malaysian police force, right?

kl convention centreFinally, we marched to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) Square, next to the Twin Towers. It was already 4.00 pm. We all sat down, and several leaders gave their speeches for about 20 minutes. Suddenly the police pounced on the people from KLCC side, and everybody rose up and fled. Many people were arrested! This time people were scattered in different directions. So the people dismissed themselves.

Wow, our group had walked 20 kilometers, right?

By now my Pastor friend and I had to walk back to our room before we headed off to the KTM station. We only came to know about the situations of gatherings in other places later.

If we estimated that there were 50,000 people on that day, it was not something exaggerating.

If not because the authorities had used all means and avenues to suppress the rally, we could have several fold more in the crowd.

I got home at 9.00 pm. After a shower, as I sat down relaxing, I felt a cleaner atmosphere that was engulfing Malaysia. One of the major achievements of the rally was the elimination of fears in most of the hearts of Malaysians. Those who did not participate would be inspired by the big crowd, and subsequently they were awakened! Malaysians will be more positive now in upholding the Federal Constitutional right in freedom of assembly.

The success of the Bersih 2.0 Rally was just the beginning, now the real mission is to pursue on in making sure that the Government get the 8-point petition done. For any electoral candidates, it is only a true victory when their seats were won through fair and clean elections.

It was clearly the People Power that had enabled the success in this rally. I knew my involvement in activism is worthwhile. I had contributed a little effort for the sons of Malaysia. And now I can also tell my children that I cared for their future, and I took to the streets for my next generation!

Myths of Moderate Islam – Walid Shoebat

by Timothy Tay

Extracts from a talk given in Perth on November 2, 2010 & his book, God’s War on Terror[1] www | : God’s War on Terror by Walid Shoebat, Pub: July 21, 2008 | ISBN-10: 0977102181 | ISBN-13: 978-0977102181

Walid[2] www | : Biography of Walid Shoebat is a former Palestinian Muslim who has carried out terrorist act.

Today a Christian and based in America he travelled the world to warn of the deception of Islam and the delusion Muslims living by.

Moderate Muslims.

The West is led to believe that the majority of Muslims are moderates and the terrorist acts are committed by minority fundamentalists.

There are no moderate Muslim as there are no moderate Christian or Atheist. Islam, in fact, is more that a religion; it is a state, a constitution.

None of the 55 Islamic nations signed the Hague Convention on Women Rights.

The chief Iman in Australia, true to the teaching of Koran, had warned women to dress up and not be like uncovered meat drawing on their deserved response.

Islam is Peace?

How can it be when Fatwa is freely issued against its critics and Islam is behind the world’s leading terrorists who are threatening global stability?

People demonstrate by the millions when the Pope makes a statement that “Islam must never be propagated through violence.”[3] www | pdf | : Regensburg lecture 12 September 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI They object that Islam is not peaceful, yet they express this objection through violence.

Allah.

Allah is not Jehovah God and Muslim and Christian do not worship the same god.

The God of the Bible describes Himself as our Father and is the Holy Spirit. Allah in the Qur’an is neither a father nor the Holy Spirit. If fact, Allah rejects such titles and do not expect the world’s billion Muslims to accept the Christian God as Allah either for “there is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his messenger.

Far from being God Allah is Satan in disguise.

It is Satan’s tactic to take bits and pieces of the Bible’s prophetic insight, and then add his own story in order to flip the ending upside down.

Qu’ran.

They took select portions of Scripture and after twisting them, made sure to lace those portions with deadly cyanide the concocted a whole new Bible that they call the Qu’ran[4] www | pdf | : Quran – Wiki and claim it is the final Word of God.

Jihad.

Jihadists[5] www | pdf | : Jihadists – Wiki took to suicide for Islamic salvation.

They die in order to get instant admission into paradise because Allah took pleasure on those who die fighting for his cause.

In Muslim eyes, murderers are martyrs, their funerals are weddings, and their victims are criminals unworthy of even a funeral.

The promised 72 virgins are the perks for martyrs.

What changed me (to become a Christian) is not all the confession or (Christian) talks on radio but what I have read in the Bible that I do not have to give my life for Allah but God of the Bible had already gave His son to die for me.

Palestine.

If not for the mandate to create the modern state of Israel there would not be a Palestinian state. In 1922, the British declared that the boundary of Palestine[6] www | pdf | : Palestine Under Roman Rule would be limited to the area west of river Jordan and its future to be decided between the Jews and the Arabs. Once a territory is Muslim-ruled the Muslims will never give up their claims.

Global Economic Crisis – Rebuilding the Tower Of Babel

by Timothy Tay

GA-eu-babel-02a

Former US Reserve Bank chairman, Greenspan, described the current economic crisis as an economic tsunami of the century that had caught everyone by surprise and it had yet to hit bottom.

Over 40 leaders from Europe and Asia were in Beijing last week to trash out possible solutions.

Following this on Nov 15 the top 20 economic powers [1] www | pdf | : G-20 major economies Wiki of the world will meet to finalise a plan of actions.

China, with its 2-trillion US$ reserve, will be a key player considering that this nation has contributed much to the current woes for continued to hold tight to a low exchange rate regime for its currency.

However, it is the United States with its dominant economic presence that triggered the stock market fallouts.

The solution to this lack of confidence in the financial world may be found when nations finally agreed on a workable plan that will bring stability and confidence back into the market — for a plan to work it will have to be of a magnitude that will make the 40’s Bretton Woods agreement[2]www | pdf | : 15Nov2008 Summary and analysis of Washington meeting; Bretton Woods Project; 17NOV2008 look like child play.

We may see before our very eyes the making of a new economic order that will have the power and authority to monitor more tightly how financial transactions are to be conducted. How will this agreement affect the Church?

Will we see the economic scenario painted in the book of Revelation becoming a reality with its conceptual beginning trashed out this coming November 15?[3]www | pdf | : 15 November 2008 G-20 Washington summit Wiki

Contrary to the gloom and doom often predicted for the Church the reverse is probably true – a new era of prosperity for the children of Abraham who by faith can look forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God (Heb 11:8-10).

1. Gen 11 “Babel” is composed of two words, “baa” meaning “gate” and “el,” “god.” Hence, “the gate of god.” A related word in Hebrew, “balal” means “confusion.”[4]www | pdf | : Babel ; The Tower Of Babel and the Confusion of Languages by Lambert Dolphin

The End of the World As We Know It

God’s Voice in the Financial Crisis

v29 This is what I mean, brothers: the appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who … v30 who buy as though they had no goods, v31 and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away.” (1 Cor 7: 29-31)

Introduction

Financial crisis headlinesby Dr. John Yates
In the last two days I have personally received invitations from churches about how to ensure my finances are sound. Whilst I believe that such principles exist in scripture, this is NOT God’s main message for this hour. He is speaking in a way that is totally counter – cultural to the world and to much of the church. He has had enough of therapeutic, comfort driven, sensuous, worldly, present –focussed and utopian popular preaching that has created a culture of compromise. What he has to say is far more serious than about money. It is, necessarily, about Christ.

The title of this piece, The End of the World as we Know It, is deliberately ambiguous. It certainly implies the current economic crisis centred on the United States signals the terminal decline of a situation we have all grown up with – the dominance of the West and America in particular. It more importantly states that the reason for this catastrophe is the failure of the church to impart to Western culture a sense of the coming End of all things with the imminent Return of Jesus.

Whilst this “shock and awe” on a global scale is encouraging some Christians to believe in world wide revival, it has never been the case that material impoverishment alone leads people to turn to God. One other factor is always needed, a recovery of the truth of the gospel. This is my centre point.

Some saw it Coming

In a presentation given on behalf of The Joseph Company in Kansas City last year, I heard Bob Fraser predict exactly what we have been recently witnessing in US and global markets. Bob entitled his talk, The Perfect Storm, arguing that a once in a lifetime confluence of economic factors would see his country lose its superpower status in the way Britain did in the century before. Bob’s numerous graphs include what we have all become familiar with, “sub prime mortgages” . Lots of other things were covered e.g. aging populations, oil prices, credit card debt, pension funds (superannuation) and much more than I could comprehend. The only thing that has kept the economic turning over in the United States (and so globally) has been foreign countries (China, Japan, Saudi Arabia) purchasing American companies and government bonds. In other words, the global economy is at the mercy of non – Western (and non – democratic) powers who have been buying back American debt. This entire scenario was unsustainable.

We have been here Before

As the Roman Empire collapsed in the fifth century, many saw this as a punishment by the old Roman gods for abandoning their worship in favour of Jesus. The Church Father St Augustine wrote an apologetic work, The City of God , to rebut this thinking. He taught that history is made up of two cities or societies that are based on two incompatible loves. “Accordingly, two cities have been formed by two loves: the earthly by the love of self, even to the contempt of God; the heavenly by the love of God, even to the contempt of self. The former, in a word, glories in itself, the latter in the Lord. ”” Augustine’s position is biblical, “For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.” (Heb 13:14)

These two cities are incompatible, but “are confused and mingled amongst themselves in this world until the final judgment separates them.” Then the city of man will be destroyed and the city of God saved. God gave Rome lordship over the world so that through civil peace the gospel might be spread, once that historical mission was completed the empire fell as a result of its sin and idolatry. This will always be the destiny of all human empires until the End. In line with Augustine’s thesis we should not at all be surprised by what is happening around us.

Are the Current Events Apocalyptic?

Bob Fraser speaks of the 4 winds of the book of Revelation as economic, military, political and religious forces. Are we then to understand that the present crisis is apocalyptic, that it is pointing to the soon end of the world? The answer is “Yes”, but not as generally understood. Since Jesus is “the first and the last” (Rev 1:17; Rev 2:8; Rev 22:13), “the last days” began when Jesus, the “last one”, came . Since the Lord sent his Spirit into the world everything is incorporated into God’s apocalyptic plan.

This is why Peter uses such strong prophetic language on the day of Pentecost, “v18 in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. v19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; v20 the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day. v21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.’”(Acts 2:18-21).

Since such language is typically used in the Old Testament of the collapse of (evil) empires once they have fulfilled God’s purposes, the current global shift from confidence to pessimism and from Western to Eastern power is definitely apocalyptic. Apocalyptic language always symbolizes that God is in the business of universal upheaval . This is the inner spiritual meaning of the present global economic chaos – it signals that every foundation of the present cosmos will be destroyed (2 Pet 3:10). The result of such an insight is inevitable, “Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness” (2 Pet 3:11).

It is impossible to truly believe that we are those “on whom the end of the ages has come” (1 Cor 10:11) and to be motivated by the sort of greed and consumption that have become “normal” in much of the church. Only a revelation of the near return of Christ can free the church from mimicking society’s sensuousness. The Spirit is seeking to restore a core element of the preached gospel – Jesus is coming back soon to judge the living and the dead . He is seeking to relay the very foundation of much of Western Christianity – Christ (1 Cor 3:11).

The missing link – the presence of Jesus

I am not at all suggesting our central problem is a lack of a sound doctrine of the End. Nor am I advocating we whip up a frenzy about financial insecurity and present Jesus as the ultimate “security blanket”. The last thing people frightened people need today is what some have called “apocalyptic terrorism” . (They need the real Jesus.)

We need what the outpoured Spirit brought at Pentecost; he immersed the church in the presence of Christ so intensely that any commitment to anyone or anything other than Jesus became absolutely secondary. The real presence will actually conflict with the feel – good spirituality so popular today. It is a presence that communicates not only “a fragrance from life to life” but “a fragrance from death to death” (2 Cor 2:16). As such it will inevitably provoke persecution- from both outside and inside the church! Only such a manifest presence of the returning Christ can shatter the apathy to eternal realities that clouds the minds of average Australians .

What should we Do?

1. Recognise the present shaking comes from the hand of God as a merciful opportunity for a return to eternal things. Through prayer, God’s cross –shaped wisdom can be discerned at the heart of this turmoil.

2. Repent of any worldliness in our own lives as part of a deeply compromised church. “For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God” (1 Pet 4:17).

3. Reorient ourselves to Jesus as our sole hope. It is time to stop singing lines like, “This is our nation, this is our land This is our future, this is our hope.” Australia is NOT our hope. It is time to move on from putting the church in a place Jesus alone occupies . To say “the local church is the hope of the world.” (Bill Hybels) is to replace Christ as the centre.

4. Throw ourselves on the mercy of God asking for cleansing and the outpouring of the Spirit.

Conclusion

If people as diverse as Bob Fraser and Warren Buffett (the world’s richest man) agree that this is a once in a lifetime phenomenon , then prophetically we can see it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a global turning to Christ. Let us pray that God in sovereign grace will include our and the other Western nations in the roll call of genuine spiritual transformation.

He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!” (Rev 22:20)
