Guide
to Film Classification
G – violence should have a low sense of threat
or menace, sex can be very discreetly implied, language should be
very mild and infrequent
PG – sex, violence and language should be
mild and infrequent
M – moderate violence, sex only discreetly
implied, coarse language accepted
MA – violence justified by context, sex implied,
strong coarse language accepted
R – no offensive sexual violence, no sexual
fetishes, or depictions of child abuse, violence is permitted but
not excessively long and detailed.
In
most of the above categories, nudity and drug use must be “justified
by context”.
