OBAMA
-REMAKING OF AMERICA

January 22, 2009
"Let it be said by our children's children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations."

Obama's inauguration speech sets out the mission for the new President of USA, still the richest and most powerful nation on earth despite being weakened by costly wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and by the worst financial crisis in modern times. President Obama has lined-up a cabinet of luminaries not unlike the Dream Team of American basketballers that dorminated the Olympics in Barcelona. When Obama acknowledged the need for divine grace to succeed in meeting the formidable tasks before him let us hope that it is not just rhetoric or the all-inclusive smart-talking that had been the trade marks of the new President that led him to victory in the presidential election but it be that of the sincere prayer of a servant-leader with a humble and contrite spirit ( Isa 57:15; 66:2). The challenge to America to grow or even to maintain their leading role amongst nations in the 21st century is obviously greater than the sum of the individual talents that made up the President team but let not the destractors and doomsayers make premature pronoucements for this is the nation unlike any other in our days that still put their trust in God just as it been done at every critical junctures in American history. May God bless America.

The problems are mighty and the solutions are not simple, and everywhere you turn there will be a critic waiting to attack every decision that you make. But you are all fired up, sir, and you are ready to go. And this nation goes with you. God goes with you.
T D Jakes, speaking at the morning service on the day of President Obama inauguration.
