Guest speaker: Colin Barnett.
‘The Human Side of Politics!’

Cause and effect concept diagram on white board

Well known to all of us, Colin Barnett was Premier of Western Australia from 2008 to 2017 at which time Labor won a crushing victory over the Liberal Party which brought to an end Colin’s political life after a career of over 27 years.

Colin’s address will comprise some non-partisan reflections on the human side of politics – the stresses and almost overwhelming demands of public service as a politician.

Colin graduated with an Honours degree in economics from UWA and later earned a Master’s degree in the same discipline. After some years of experience in a variety of Government and academic roles, Colin was elected as the Liberal member for Cottesloe in 1990 and soon after became a Minister in the Richard Court Government. After a period in Opposition, the Liberals won government in 2008 and Colin became Premier.

Topic: “The Human Side of Politics!”

We are grateful to Colin for being willing to share with us some of his personal experiences.
